| Abstract (PDF, 14 KB) | |||||
| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The concomitant assessment of PPI and P50 suppression in healthy subjects with low baseline gating levels, in combination with neuropsychological testing, may provide a valid translational model to elucidate the neural basis of PPI and P50 suppression deficits and its relation to cognition. In this proof of concept study, further psychoactive compounds, including antipsychotics, are being tested in order to validate and extend our current model of sensory and sensorimotor gating in healthy human volunteers exhibiting low baseline gating performance. This validation study aims to elucidate the applicability of our translational model to serve as a useful tool for the assessment of the efficacy of novel pharmacotreatment strategies for patients suffering from schizophrenia spectrum disorders. | ||||
